Shaping the Spinal Cord Injury
Research Landscape:
How Consumers Can Make a Difference

Dr. Slocum will explore historical perspectives in spinal cord injury (SCI) research and examine how consumer feedback and input has been integral to the current research landscape. She will review channels and methods by which consumers can continue to play an active role in dialogues around current and future SCI research and contemporary findings on barriers and facilitators for clinical trial participation for persons with SCI.

Webcast attendees will be able to:

  • Summarize consumer influence on research priorities for persons with SCI and historical context 
  • Examine channels and methods by which consumers can submit feedback and ideas for future SCI research
  • Review barriers and facilitators for clinical trial participation in persons with SCI

About Our Speaker:

Chloe Slocum, MD, MPH is currently an attending physician at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Instructor in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Harvard Medical School. She received her doctoral degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Master of Public Health Degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She is board-certified in PM&R and SCI Medicine and currently serves as the Director of Health Policy for the Harvard Medical School Department of PM&R and the Associate Director of Quality for Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. Dr. Slocum's research interests focus on sacral function following SCI, public Health, and access to quality of care for persons with SCI.
