Simsbury is home to CT Adaptive Cycling, a not-for-profit, bike-share program established in 2011 that offers members free use of hand cycles and recumbent bicycles specially designed for persons with disabilities. More than 200 riders and their families enjoyed the trails last season around Simsbury, in West Hartford, and in trails in the Cheshire area.
CT Adaptive Cycling, sponsored by the Children & Adult Mobility Project, Inc., also partners with Gaylord Hospital Sports Association, The Hospital for Special Care, The Christopher Reeves Foundation and the Greater Harford YMCA. The program is believed to the only one of its kind in the country.
