Gaylord Specialty Healthcare has recently acquired an Ekso unit and is excited to share this wonderful accomplishment with the spinal cord injury community! Gaylord is one of just 20 centers worldwide that has access to this cutting edge rehabilitation technology.
The Ekso is a robotic device which allows those with paraplegia to ambulate. The device helps the user to stand, take steps and sit, with the use of an assistive device. The hospital has successfully completed an Ekso certification course and has begun using the system with four clients.
Potential Ekso clients will require a doctor’s approval before Gaylord’s Ekso team can complete an evaluation. Candidacy for use is determined by a thorough assessment of range of motion, strength, leg and hip measurements, tone and other pertinent impairments and functional abilities.
