After sustaining a spinal cord injury Warren became active in the NSCIA CT Chapter, serving as a Board Member for many years and ultimately serving a 2 year term as Chapter President.
For his outstanding work with the Chapter on behalf of those with spinal cord injuries Hunt received the honorary Philip B. Arnold award.
Hunt''s career highlights include serving as a Vice President of Northeast Utilities, and also as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford YMCA.
He also served on the Board of Directors of New Horizons Village, an assisted living facility in Farmington, CT. During his involvement with New Horizons, Hunt founded the first community-based Functional Electrical Stimulation Program. Utilizing space provided by New Horizons and mostly donated equipment, the program provides those with spinal cord injuries the opportunity to exercise paralyzed limbs on special ergonomic bicycles, a therapy which until then, had only been available in a handful of clinical locations in Connecticut.
NSCIA CT Chapter colleague and friend Jim Quick describes Hunt as "a selfless man who lived a life of respect, strength and integrity.”
“Life was not a challenge for Warren”, continues Quick, “for he challenged life everyday."
